January 10, 2014 we addressed the Zonta Club of Dallas, dedicated to improving the status of women locally and worldwide. Locally, they support Our Friends Place (transitional housing for women at risk), Mosaic Family Services (for trafficked women of non-American origin), and the Family Place (a shelter for battered women). The Zonta Club of Dallas also offers scholarship for women entering the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) disciplines and for women in business. Zonta International, with clubs in 67 countries, has consultative status with several United Nations organizations and donates to UN Women, Unicef, and Unesco to promote women’s education, women’s healthcare, and the prevention of violence against women.
Because our mission aligns so well with that of the Zontas, leaders from our two groups will meet to consider collaboration in the future.
